# Maintenance windows

Pause checks and alerts during planned work, one-off or every week.

Schedule maintenance before you deploy, migrate a database or reboot a server, so nobody gets paged for planned downtime.

While a window is active, its monitors aren't checked, nothing alerts, and the time doesn't count against uptime. Status pages say the work is scheduled. When the window ends, checks resume; heartbeat monitors get a fresh period so a job that skipped its run during maintenance isn't reported late.

## One-off or weekly

Pick a start, a length (15 minutes to 24 hours) and the monitors. Tick **Repeat every week** for regular windows, such as Sunday 02:00–04:00. Weekly windows keep their local time across daylight-saving changes, in the time zone you choose.

## From a deploy script

Start a window from CI with the [API](/docs/api). By default it starts now and covers every monitor:

```sh
curl -X POST https://pulsefast.io/api/v1/maintenance \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $PULSEFAST_API_KEY" \
  -d '{"title": "Deploy", "duration_minutes": 15}'
```
